Dr. Shelley Sherkey
Owner and Veterinarian

Dr. Sherkey obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1977 from the University of Guelph’s Ontario Veterinary College.

In 1990, he opened Bayview Hill Animal Hospital, a small clinic with one consulting room, and one other employee, his wife, Evelyn. The clinic blossomed, eventually outgrowing its humble beginnings and re-locating to its current location in 2001. 

Dr. Sherkey’s areas of interests include canine and feline medicine, geriatric care and pain management. In his free time he enjoys photography, golf and spending time with his loving family and his dog Ozzie. 

Dr. Rebecca Sherkey
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Becky graduated from the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine summa cum laude in 2011.

 

She brings to the clinic her wealth of knowledge and experience from her background in emergency and referral medicine. Her father, Dr. Sherkey is delighted and excited to be working with his daughter.

When not at work, Dr. Becky enjoys spending time with her husband and her 2 daughters. 

Dr. Patricia Khor
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Khor developed her love for animals very early in life, when she would be often seen helping out at her aunt’s pet store. Her passion for animal care led her to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph in 2002. At graduation, she was recipient of the Beloved Friends Award for “demonstrating kindness and care in the treatment of animals in the medicine and surgery clinics.

 

Dr. Khor strives to provide the best care for her patients. She does this by keeping current with the most recent advances in veterinary medicine. Her areas of interest include pain management, acupuncture, dermatology and surgery. 

Dr. Khor can be found ‘hard-at work’ with her husband and their 3 kids and dog Zack.

Dr. Stephanie Fung
Associate Veterinarian

After earning an Honours Bachelor's of Science from McMaster University, Dr. Fung traveled to Australia to follow her dream of being a veterinarian and graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2015. Though loving life in sunny Australia, she could not resist the call to return home to Toronto.

Dr. Fung keeps up-to-date with the newest advancements in veterinary medicine and surgery through continuing education to provide the highest level of care for her patients. Her areas of interest include soft tissue surgery and preventative medicine.

Dr. Fung, along with her husband and their cat Brian, enjoy catching up with their favourite TV shows,  finding new hiking trails to conquer and trying out new foods.

Daniela Gaudio 
Practice Manager

Daniela has been a part of the Bayview Hill family since 1992. She started out as a co-op student while in high school, and she loved working with the animals so much that she stayed on as part of the team, and is now our practice manager. She is the friendly and familiar face that many of you have come to know.

 

She strives to provide each and every client and pet with excellent customer service and care, all the while managing the hospital. She has taken numerous workshops and attended many seminars in order to continue her education.

Daniela loves spending quality time with her husband and 2 children.  She is also a foster mom with Team Dog Rescue.

Kristine Kertesz
Head Registered Veterinary Technician

Kristine joined Bayview Hill Animal hospital in 2015. She graduated from the Seneca College Veterinary Technician Program in 2014 and obtained her  honours Biology degree from the University of Waterloo in 2009.

 

Kristine has always been passionate for animals since a child. She currently has a Yorkie poo named Tommy and two cats, KitKat and Smokey.

Kate Shore
Registered Veterinary Technician

Kate graduated from Seneca College’s veterinary technician program in 2017. Before attending Seneca she completed her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the University of Guelph in 2015.

Kate has been riding horses since she was 7 years old and now owns her own horse named Galalie. She also has a cockapoo named Charlie that her family rescued 4 years ago.

When she's not at work, Kate enjoys yoga, hiking, skiing and of course riding and spending time with her horse.

Keyri Dugger
Veterinary Technician

Keyrie started working as a veterinary technician in 2006 and worked for years in Belize. She recently started working here with us this past January 2020. Not only does her love of animals extend to dogs and cats, but she also has a deep passion for birds and hopes to one day own and train a falcon.

 

In her spare time, Keyrie loves to catch up on her reading as well as destroying her children at video games.

Katherine Ma
Registered Veterinary Technician

Katherine graduated from Seneca College's Veterinary Technician program in 2016 and has been involved in veterinary care since high school as a volunteer. Her special interests include rehabilitative therapy and behaviour.

Katherine shares her home with a multitude of pets including 1 dog, 2 cats and 2 rats.  In her spare time she plays the guitar/ukulele/bass and sings for her church's band. 

Stephanie Drascic-Gaudio
Head Animal Care Attendant

Stephanie joined BHAH in 2016 as one of our ACAs after gaining valuable experience as a co-op student at a different veterinary clinic. Her full-time dedication and compassion to provide the most comfortable and stress-free visit for pets have certainly gained her the title of Head ACA.

While not at work, Stephanie keeps herself busy with her Husky, Kyodie. 

Mona Saleh Rad
Animal Care Attendant

Growing up, Mona has always been surrounded by animals may it be cats, dogs, birds, hamsters or even ducks. As a child she wanted to peruse a job in veterinary medicine to continue to care for them. She is currently studying biology at York and plans to go to graduate school to study veterinary medicine.

 

At home, she has two white fluffy cats, Snowey and Angel, and a budgie named Sky.

Humza Raza
Animal Care Attendant

Humza has always had a passion to work with animals from a very young age, he knew he wanted to work with animals when he first started working at Bayview Hill Animal Hospital as a co-op student.  Humza is currently a full-time student at the University of Toronto. 

At home, Humza enjoys whistling with his pet parrotlet, FooFoo.

Mya Pryce
Animal Care Attendant

Mya initially joined us in 2018 as a high school co-op student. She enjoyed her experience so much that she enrolled and will be graduating soon from the Veterinary Assistant program. Mya recently shared the good news that she will also be starting the Veterinary Technician program this September 2020! 

 

Mya has 3 cats at home – Polly, Emilia and Munroe.

Melanie Holmes
Client Care Representative

Melanie raised in a house full of cats. She has been an animal-lover ever since and after developing an interest in medicine, the veterinary field became a perfect fit.

 

Living in Markham with her partner, Melanie is able to bring her senior dog Rocky with her to the clinic where he loves to run around looking for treats. 

Jennifer Cole
Client Care Representative

Jennifer enjoys spending time with with her 2 dogs Tucker and Rosie as well as her husband and 2 kids, who keep her busy with dance and baseball.

Candace Longhorn
Client Care Representative

Candace is a graduate of the Durham College Animal Care program. Ever since she was little she always had an passion for animals and has brought that passion into her adult life. Currently she is getting experience in the workplace before deciding if she would like to further pursue her career in the animal field.

Candace highly enjoys reading, photography and playing with her two cats Ringo and Rose and the newest doggie addition Nyx.

Sam
Clinic Mascot

Sam was surrendered to BHAH as an old man. He spends his days patrolling the treatment area, finding warm laps to sleep on for hours and meowing for attention (which includes flopping over for belly rubs).
